Hairy Woodpecker (?)

Should I just dispense with the question marks and other mis-identification disclaimers?  Most of these birds I don't know for sure if I've identified correctly.  Email me if you have an opinion contrary to mine!  Anyway, I think this is a hairy woodpecker, making it the second kind of woodpecker we have seen in our dead tree.  I know, the tree doesn't *look* dead because it has a live tree next to it and a poison ivy vine growing up the side (for not much longer, we have Round Up!)  Marriner wants to take this tree out, mostly because it's dead and it's not too close to anything that couldn't be squished by a tree falling the wrong way.  I'm starting to feel a certain affinity for this miniature woodpecker habitat (the habitat is small, not the woodpeckers.)  We'll see what happens.  Anyway, here's some info on the cutie.
