A good reminder

I had a chance to talk to Ellis's 1st grade teacher last night.  Mrs. Little is a long-time child lover and teacher, and I am amazed at how her enthusiasm continues after all the years of bizarre mandates from above.  She still has the passion for her work!  She told me how cute and well-behaved Ellis is in class ("She reminds me of Matilda!") and I was thrilled to hear it, because Ellis has been struggling just a little bit at home.  I told Mrs. Little a bit about it.

"Is Ellis your middle child?"
"Yup!"
"I thought so.  She's probably just struggling to get a bit of attention, what with your new baby and trying to measure up to her older brother.  You just give her some extra attention and love, and I'm sure she'll be just fine."

Now there's a reminder every mom needs frequently!

When I'm having a rough time, and I pray for help, God always sends me a little extra time and attention and love.  He always wraps his arms around me for a few days until I'm feeling better.  Of course he doesn't glower and say, "Christine, you can do better than that!"

I'm going to follow His example better.  Thanks, Mrs. Little, for the reminder.
