We are spiritual 3-year olds

Three year olds.  They are very little people.  They're certainly not babies any more - they can dress themselves, go to the bathroom fairly reliably, feed themselves, and in fact, they get so independent, they think they know it all.  They really think they understand the way the world works.  They do pretty much the same things every day, and they are confident about what is going on around them.  Little do they realize how much they don't understand from their 3-foot high perspective on life!  For example:  We went to IKEA a few days ago, but did a different errand first, so we came to IKEA from a different direction than usual.  Lillian was sure that I had missed the turn-off, and was near panic because I wasn't listening to her and was going the wrong way!!!  "Mom, you have to turn left here!!"  Only, she didn't know what that "no left turn" sign meant.  So for 5 minutes, I listened to her plead with me to go back while I patiently drove to the next stop light, turned, and arrived safely at the OTHER entrance to IKEA.  Seriously, you'd think they'd know by now that we have a few more years of experience, and aren't stupid, and know what we're doing.  Gosh, just trust me a bit!

And, as soon as I say that, the little voice of God in my head says, "Yeah, you'd think you'd know that I have a few more years of experience and I know what I'm doing, wouldn't you."
